Summer Internship - Aeromechanics engineer
Develop commercial drone transportation technology!
We usually respond within two weeks
Aviant delivers food and medicine home to people with drones. After starting in the labs at MIT in 2020 and completing tens of commercial contracts with thousands of flights, we are now fully focused on our live home delivery service Kyte. This is one of only two live drone delivery services in Europe.
Our next big goal is to take Kyte from cabin fields to densely populated areas, and we are looking for talented engineers to take the aerodynamic robustness of our drone to the next level. How will we deal with high winds and cold temperatures in a more robust way?
As an Aeromechanics Engineer, you will develop solutions to concrete problems we have in the area of aerodynamics, mechanics, materials and thermal properties. Depending on your specific strengths, your responsibilities may include:
- Propeller optimization to reduce noise to people on the ground
- Airframe optimization to increase range
- Find a way to the contents of the external payload warm for longer
- Find a way to deliver the payload accurately in high wind
- Development of our wind generator for lifetime testing of the aircraft
- Testing and verification of systems you make
The ideal candidate has:
- Practical hands-on experience within Mechanics, Aerodynamics and Thermal physics
- Worked independently on a challenging task, ideally involving 3D printing, laser cutting, composite manufacturing and simulations
- Experience with unmanned systems (drones or otherwise)
- A drive for attacking problems that nobody has solved
- Passion for productivity
We are seeking extraordinary enthusiasts, people who are addicted to results. If you want to build something that matters, we look forward to your application!

About Aviant
At Aviant, we enable autonomous parcel delivery by drone. After starting in the labs at MIT in 2020, Aviant has signed ten commercial contracts in Scandinavia, flown over 1,500 flights covering more than 30,000 km, built a robust team of 20 people, and managed to take a leading position in the European drone market. We have just launched Scandinavia’s first autonomous home delivery service with drone, called Kyte (https://kyte.delivery/). This marks Aviant as one of very few players worldwide doing autonomous home delivery by drone. Therefore, we are continually seeking enthusiastic top performers - people with a desire to work at the forefront of autonomous logistics.
