Aviant delivers food and medicine home to people with drones. After starting in the labs at MIT in 2020 and completing tens of commercial contracts with thousands of flights, we are now fully focused on our live home delivery service Kyte. This is one of only two live drone delivery services in Europe.

Our next big goal is to expand Kyte from cabin fields to densely populated areas. To do this, we must increase the robustness by detecting problems in the drone before they cause a crash. We collect approximately 100 megabytes of log data per flight, and your job as a Data Scientist is to use that data to identify and stop problems before they escalate. Depending on your strengths, this may include:

• Data-based physical modeling of the drone dynamics
• Automatic classification of incidents
• Statistical analysis to identify outliers and trends
• Setting up backend infrastructure

The ideal candidate has:

• Practical experience within statistics, control theory, aerodynamics, physical modeling and machine learning
• A solid theoretical understanding of fixed-wing and multirotor physics
• Worked independently on a challenging task
• Passion for productivity
• The confidence and drive to attack problems that nobody have solved
